Verbal expressions, body language, gestures, and facial expression, is a very neglected area of communication.  This book teaches those those who have communicative difficulties and those who do not, this highly complex and subtle language.  Students learn to "read" expressions from the facial expression cards and in scenarios, and generalize this knowledge.  "Getting the Message" helps especially students who have communication problems to understand the importance of these other means of communication and to effectively read critical social interactions and situations. 

Teaches to these five questions:

• Can the student "read" facial expressions?

• Does the student use appropriate facial expressions?

• Does the student get the emotions that go with the expressions?

• Can the student read and display basic emotions, happy, sad, scared?

• Can the student read and display more subtle emotions than these?
