This device allows you to turn it on and type.  The unit has two screens - one facing you, and one facing the listener.  The standard backlighted display has 3/8" high characters; vacuum fluorescent displays are optional with 1/4" high characters, 36 memos can be stored up to 250 characters each.

The SL35 has 32K of internal memory with 8K fully backed up. 

Two layouts are optional - QWERTY typewriter layout or ABCDE straight alphabet.  Keyguards are available.  It's the smallest unit with DECtalk  synthesizer inside!
