Community-based instruction
Newly
updated Stepping Out takes instruction out of the classroom and into
the community. Students learn a balanced blend of skills—from shopping
to banking to doing laundry—on planned, supervised outings. The
curriculum sets lesson plans for 19 standard outings, plus additional
personalized activities. A unique collection of 23 Stepping Out Cues
help students perform activities without requiring prerequisite
academic skills. The cues can be long-term adaptations or faded as
skills develop. Dozens of structured classroom activities prepare
students for community experiences. Assessments and parent involvement
forms help advance community-based instruction goals in the IEP. Print
out extra cues and supplemental material from the CD-ROM. Spiralbound
book, 285 pgs., includes a Win/Mac CD with printable PDF of cues plus
supplemental materials, 2004. Two sets of Stepping Out Cues. |
