Session 1: Software Today

The number of new software programs released in the past 12-18 months has been substantial. Professionals and family members of special needs children do not usually have the opportunity to review a large number of new programs before purchase. The purpose of this presentation is to examine many of the new software programs from manufacturers such as Don Johnston, Edmark, Intellitools, Laureate Learning Co., Mayer Johnson, Soft Touch/kidTech, Knowledge Adventure and SEMERC. (Time: 3 hours)


Session 2: Using the Laptop Computer to Develop Customized Overlays

Tired of cutting and pasting? Instructions for making and customizing boards for various communication devices using the popular software program Boardmaker from Mayer Johnson. Bring some vocabulary and ideas to customize an overlay for your program, if time permits. (Time: 3 hours)



Session 3: How to make the writing process easier for students with disabilites using CoWriter, Write OutLoud and intellitalk.


Session 4: Computer Access Choices and Educational Software

If you need to find out what's available to access a computer, come and discover how easy it is to open new opportunities for learning tough Educational Software programs by using switch interfaces and alternative keyboards. Program will highlight Intellikeys, BigKeys, TouchWindow, Switch Interfaces and selected software. (Time: 3 hours)

5: Why is the Macaw the most popular communication device device in the world?

The Zygo Macaw series of communication devices are the most popular devices used internationally. During this session, ACCI will explain why and discuss the MACAWS many features. These device offers the best balance of a variety of features, power, durability and reliability as compared to the cost than any other communication device in its class. Learn how to program the Macaw to customize it for your students communication needs. (Time: 3 hours)

6: Communication Devices for Non-Readers

Confused on what products are available for non-readers? This workshop will present some of the latest devices available along an opportunity to compare. (Time: 2 1/2 hours)



Session 7: View Software at your own pace!

Saturday viewing available. Call ACCI to schedule. Sit down in front of our computer to review software programs from SoftTouch KidTECH, Don Johnston, EdMark, Laureate, Tom Snyder Productions. Some general topics: Cause & Effect, Math, Reading, Writing, Communication and Science. (Afternoon: 1:15pm - 3;15pm)
