Words Around Me helps students with
unique learning needs successfully learn 275 common vocabulary words, plus 186 plurals,
for people, places, things and actions. With help from an encouraging character named
Greenie, students learn to associate spoke words with a variety of visual representations,
including photographs, drawn images, and animations.
Students progress through five activities: Word Identification,
Plurals, Categorization, Sameness and Difference. Four Review Games -Make a Match,
Hide
& Seek, Picture Puzzle and What's missing -provide plenty of opportunities for
reinforcement. Through this sequence of activities and games, students learn to identify
the spoken word with pictures of the word, reinforce word concepts and develop visual
perception, memory, listening, categorization and comparison skills.
Words Around Me is especially appropriate for students with
special needs, students learning English as a second language and early learners.
