Edmark Reading Software Program Level 2

The Edmark Reading Program teaches reading and language development through whole word approach, consistent repetition, and positive reinforcement that provides immediate success to students with learning or developmental disabilities.

Direction Card Lessons:  read words in context, learn that words have meaning and develop critical-thinking skills.

Word Recognition Lessons:  develops visual memory for introduced vocabulary by reading words, phrases and sentences from left to right and pairing spoken words with printed words.

Picture/Phrase Lessons:  broadens comprehension by choosing words, phrases, or sentences to describe illustrations of objects, situations, or events.

Story Lessons: learn that words can be combined to share an idea or tell a story.  Only learned words are used in the stories.

Teaches 150 words from the Dolch Word List for 1st grade readers, Students click on individual words or whole sentences to listen to them read aloud.  Success comes from site recognition, definitions, activities and uses in a story context.  Also teaches "-s," "-ed," and "-ing" endings, capitalization and punctuation.

Level 2 is for students who have completed Level 1 successfully but are not ready for traditional reading.  Teaches 200 new words as well as compound words and reviews words learned in Level 1 for reinforcement.  Students focus on comprehension with questions on the meaning throughout the stories.
